Rediscovering Water is Essential to Life

"12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead.

Colossians 2:12

More and more America is hearing about bad water. The people of Flint, Michigan, especially the children, are suffering many illnesses because their water is contaminated. Those who live in and around Las Vegas and several places in California are on water rationing schemes because the population is growing too fast and the water table and reservoirs are being depleted. We are rediscovering that clean, accessible water is essential to life.

Last year several of you made some extra sacrifices for the people of Yendi because the Dakar river, from which many got their water, was completely dry and people were actually suffering horribly from a lack of water. With your generosity we were able to put in a mechanized system that helped provide water for a few thousand of the people of Yendi.

Unfortunately, the drought has continued and the river is drying again. The need for four more mechanized wells is in our five year plan, but we cannot wait five years.

We need to build another one right now. We want to space the wells out so the people can have water close to their homes and make it easier on the women to fetch their water and get their other chores done.

The mechanized well we put in last year cost almost $20,000.00. This sounds like a lot of money, and it is, but the $20,000.00 actually helped more than 20,000 people. So the cost per person was less than one dollar, which was a pretty good bargain. Needless to say, we still need your help to provide another well to help many thousands to have this new system.

Your Help in Action

Look at the picture above and see how you have already helped and please consider helping once again. Jesus spoke about cold water when He said, “And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.” —Josiah Tilton
